Air Fryer Chicken Skewers: super easy, quick and delicious air fryer chicken skewers recipe that are tender, juicy, and coated in a sweet-spicy 5 minutes sauce. Perfect for super hot days and minimal cleaning required. (Can be made using wooden skewers too).
Why Air Fryer Chicken Skewers?
These chicken skewers are my answer to delicious kabobs/kebabs on hot summer days when I do not want to use the grill.
Also, it’s minimal kitchen cleaning …. you can wash the air fryer basket in the dishwasher along with the prep bowls (total 3-4 things used).
Also, they are minimal effort yet packed with flavors, hence a total WIN-WIN recipe !
Ingredients for Air Fryer Chicken Skewers:
Chicken Breast– cut into bite-size pieces, you can use frozen-thawed or fresh chicken.
Seasonal Veggies– use as per your choice, I’m using zucchini, bell peppers and red onions.
Hot Sauce– you can make one at home like mine (recipe below) or buy a store-bought one.
Oil – for coating the skewers for proper cooking

How to Make Easy Air Fryer Chicken Skewers:
The process is fairly simple and the juiciness of the skewers depends on how long you marinate.
Start by mixing the ingredients for sauce (if making from scratch or skip this step if using store-bought ones).
Divide it into two bowls.
Add chopped chicken breasts in one bowl and chopped veggies in another bowl.
Mix the ingredients in their respective bowls and marinate for 1 hr or longer if time permits.
Preheat the Air Fryer at 350 F for 5 minutes.
Take the skewers and add the marinated chicken + veggies as per choice.
Brush the skewers with leftover sauce and oil.
Air fry for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, turn the sides and air fry for another 8 minutes.
Finally, the skewers are cooked and remove from air fryer.
Sprinkle some fresh cilantro leaves + sesame seeds (if using as garnish).
Serve hot and enjoy.
Extra Tips for Your Help:
Although the recipe is extremely easy, there are few things to keep in mind for juicy tender skewers.
Wooden Skewers: they need to be soaked in cold water for 20 minutes or they burn easily in the fryer.
Steel Skewers: be extremely careful while removing them from the hot fryer as the skewers are extremely hot too. Use a tong or kitchen glove to remove them from the fryer basket and wait to cool a little before serving.
Chicken: for any grilling/air fryer, always use room temperature chicken for tender results. If you use cold meat, it will turn chewy once cooked.
Even Cooking: this is extremely important cause if meat + veggies are not the same sizes, they cook at different temperatures and burn the veggies faster.

Ingredients
3 Chicken Breast - cut into bite size pieces
2 Colored Bell Pepper - cut into bite size pieces
1 Green Bell Pepper - cut into bite size pieces
1 Large Zucchini - cut into bite size pieces
1 Large Onion - cut into bite size pieces
3 Tbsp Olive Oil - for skewers
1 Tsp Sesame Seeds - for garnish (optional)
2 Tsp Chopped Cilantro - for garnish (optional)
5 Minutes Sweet Spicy Sauce:
1/4 Cup Ketchup
2 Tbsp Sambal (use any other hot sauce)
4 Tbsp Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
Salt - as per taste
Black Pepper Powder - as per taste
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the 5 mins sweet-spicy sauce and keep aside.
Now divide the sauce in two large bowls.
Add chopped chicken in 1 bowl and mix evenly.
Add chopped veggies in 2nd bowl and mix evenly.
Let veggies and chicken marinate for 45 mins or more (if time permit).
Once marinated, take the skewers and brush them with oil (this helps to remove the meat later if needed).
Now, take the marinated chicken + veggies and arrange in each skewer accordingly.
Brush the remaining sauce and oil on each skewer.
Preheat Air Fryer at 350F for 5 minutes.
Place 3-4 ready skewers in the air fryer basket and air fry for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, turn the skewers using tongs and cook for another 6-8 minutes.
Once done, remove from air fryer with tongs.
Place on serving plates sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro.
Enjoy hot,
