WHAT IS BOOZY VODKA THANDAI SHOTS?

These luscious, creamy, and fun shots embrace the spirit of Holi perfectly in a delightful fusion of tradition & indulgence.

Combining the rich flavors of India’s most Iconic Holi drink ‘Thandai’ with the kick of vodka + bourbon (if you please), these shots are sure to elevate your Holi festivities to a whole new level.

If Thandai is new to you, it’s a drink made by mixing dry fruits (like almonds, pistachio, melon seeds, poppy seeds) with fragrant rose petals, sweet spices (fennel, black pepper, green cardamom, saffron, etc).

Now, you can easily make this in a powder or liquid state at home or can find it in any Indian store near you.

Thandai and Holi go hand in hand and no Indian party is complete without an original Thandai drink or a version of it in drinks or sweets recipes.

BOOZY THANDAI SHOTS INGREDIENTS:

Here’s a simple recipe to create this delightful concoction, also note, that the main recipe is just 5 ingredients but continuing with our Festive look, I’m using a few other ingredients as decoration which is optional:

  • Chilled Milk 
  • Thandai Syrup – I’m using storebought syrup, you can use powder too.
  • Cream – this adds such an amazing taste and texture to this drink
  • Vodka
  • Bourbon – this is optional but adds a sweeter taste

Decoration – Optional

  • Pistachio
  • Almonds
  • Rose Petal
  • Cardamom Powder

You can use any kind of decorations as per choice and availability of ingredients.

HOW TO MAKE VODKA THANDAI SHOTS:

This is such an easy breezy drink and I loooove serving it in my Holi parties and otherwise too as it takes no time to make and neither any cooking. All you have to do:

Whisk the cream in a large bowl for 2-3 minutes (till stiff and peaks form).

Take a large tall jug/container.

Add milk, thandai syrup, vodka, and bourbon, and mix everything using a large whisk or stirrer.

Now, add this thandai mix in the cream and whisk again till everything is well combined.

Transfer to serving glasses or shot glasses.

Top with chopped almonds, pistachio, rose petals, and cardamom powder.

Serve chilled.

VARIATIONS & SERVING SUGGESTIONS:

As simple as the drink is, it can also be made with other combinations of liquor like rum, tequila, whiskey, midori, etc.

Similarly, you can customize the amount of liquor as per your choice or more or less.

You can add different flavored Thandai too like rose (gulab), saffron (kesar), khas, etc.

You can pair this sweet drink with any spicy Indian snacks and other festive Holi treats both traditional and modern.

Ingredients

  • 1,5 Cups Chilled Plain Milk 
  • 4 Tbsp Thandai Syrup - check notes
  • 1/2 Cup Cream
  • 1/2 Cup Vodka
  • 1/4 Cup Bourbon - this is optional but adds a sweeter taste

Decoration - Optional

  • 2 Tbsp Chopped Pistachio
  • 2 Tbsp Chopped Almonds
  • 6 Rose Petal - thinly chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder

Instructions

  1. Add cream in a large bowl and whisk for 2-3 minutes (till stiff and peaks form).
