Mediterranean Zaatar Cucumber Yogurt Dip: flavorful, healthy, and refreshing dip uses Greek yogurt, zaatar, cucumbers, pomegranate seeds, onion, feta cheese, pistachio, mint, and honey. Serve with pita chips, lavash bread or a choice of crackers. There is no garlic in this dip.
And just before we officially step into the New Year, I wanted to share my favorite dip with you for your New Year party or later events.
For the past few weeks, we have been eating so much of desserts, creams, heavy soup and cheesy dishes that this dip looks like such a fresh-needed breather.
Creamy Greek yogurt as a base and topped with juicy fresh chopped Persian cucumbers, onions, and pomegranate seeds along with zingy zaatar, feta cheese, pistachio and honey.
Finally, top it with freshly chopped mint leaves – THIS is what I’m talking about as a refreshing yet creamy healthy dip.
So come, and immerse yourself in the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean with my exquisite Zaatar Cucumber Yogurt Dip.
This delectable recipe combines the freshness of cucumbers, the richness of yogurt, and the aromatic allure of zaatar, resulting in a dip that’s perfect for any occasion. Join us on a culinary adventure as we explore the origins of these ingredients and guide you through the creation of this mouthwatering delight.
Here are the ingredients for the dip:
Spices:
These ingredients can be easily found in most store and here are some more details:
Yogurt: I’m using greek yogurt but this can be made with any plain thick yogurt. Just keep the yogurt in a cheesecloth and remove excess water.
Cucumber: I’m using small Persian cucumbers (from Costco) but you can use English cucumber or regular cucumber. Just chop them into bite-size pieces.
Honey: I like little sweet-savory flavors in dip, however this is an optional ingredient.
Most of this dish is all about assembling the dip and the ingredients can be chopped and stored separately for later use.
Once you are ready to make them, just grab a beautiful or large platter of your choice.
Spread the whisked Greek yogurt on the base.
Then top the rest of the ingredients as per your choice or as I like, cucumber goes first.
Then I add onions, pomegranate, salt + chili flakes (if using).
Then add the feta cheese, zaatar, pistachio, mint and top with honey.
You can sprinkle some salt and zaatar on top too.
Here you go the dip is ready.
The beauty of this dip lies in the harmonious marriage of flavors and freshness of ingredients.
Zaatar, the star of the show, introduces a medley of aromatic herbs, transporting your taste buds to the sun-drenched landscapes of the Mediterranean.
A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and a squeeze of lemon juice enhance the depth of the dip, creating a symphony of tastes that dance on your palate.
I usually like to serve it with fresh lavash or flatbreads.
You can also serve them with pita chips, naan chips or even tortilla cups.
They go very good with cucumber, carrots, beets or even celery sticks.
You can even pair this dish with grilled meat or seafood.
So go ahead and make this delicious and refreshing Mediterranean Yogurt dip this party and enjoy with your loved ones.
The versatility of this dip makes it a crowd-pleaser at gatherings or a delightful addition to your everyday meals.
