This Bread Samosa Recipe (Fried, Baked & Air Fryer Version) is my #1 party snack a.k.a crowd-pleaser appetizer that’s gone in minutes!!!
The pillowy, crispy on the outside and melting filling is so addicting that it’s really hard to stop at one, so please, I urge you to make some extra 🙂Before we head further, Who else believes that this year literally flew by!!! I mean can you believe that its X’Mas in few days n then A Brand New Year.
What is a Bread Samosa?
They are nothing but ‘Samosa’s made using bread slices’ – Believe it or not, they do exist and are quite popular Indian party snacks because they are so easy to make.
So, we make the same filling as we do for the regular samosa and then use the choice of method to cook them.
They are lip-smacking good, so much easier to make than the regular samosa (no premade dough, etc) and literally pleases all age group alike 🙂
With Holiday Parties in Full swing and everyone looking for simpler/quicker recipes, these Bread Samosa’s are a GREAT option!
I mean each bread slice makes 2 samosas and you can literally make 24 of these in 30 minutes + no extra prep.
Ingredients for Bread Samosa Recipe:
- Bread Slices
- Indian Spices
- Stuffing like spinach, cottage/ricotta cheese (paneer)
- Water
- Oil – for air-fryer, bake or frying (whichever method you choose)
Preparing the Samosa Stuffing:
- The stuffing for this recipe is super easy and takes 7 minutes to make.
- You start by heating the spinach in microwave for 3 minutes or saute cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Then add steamed spinach, cheese (paneer), spices in a bowl and mix everything.
- You’d want to taste test before using the stuffing.
Please Note: I’m using ricotta cheese as a substitute for Indian paneer here, but you can use any kind of filling you like.
The Process to Make Bread Samosa:
I’m further dividing the process into 3 steps:
Shaping the Bread Slices
- Trimming the edges of the bread slices and flattening each of them (as shown below).
- Once the slice is flattened, cut it diagonal giving it a triangle shape.
- Each bread slice gives 2 triangle-shaped dough.
Filling the Samosa:
- Then we fold each triangle in a cone shape and seal the thicker part by applying flour+water paste (as shown below).
- Take each cone and add 1tbsp of stuffing in it (use the stuffing as per the size of your bread).
- Then we seal the stuffed samosa (triangle) using the same flou+water mixture.
- Make sure the samosa/triangles are sealed on all 3 edges.
- Place the stuffed and sealed triangles on a plate.
- Similarly, fill, seal all the triangles and keep aside.
Making the Air Fryer Bread Samosa / Baked Samosa Version
- Open the air fryer basket and place 4-5 samosa on the tray.
- Spray oil and start air fryer at 325 F for 12 minutes. (check after 6 minutes).
- After 12 minutes, the samosa’s would turn golden brown.
- Transfer to serving tray.
Making the Fried Bread Samosa:
- Heat oil in a wok/kadhai and add 3-4 samosas for frying (low-medium heat).
- Stir continuously and turn the samosas to cook evenly and get the perfect golden color.
- Once they are cooked, remove to a serving tray and fry all the remaining samosas.
Serving the Bread Samosa:
Once they are ready, you simply transfer to a serving bowl or tray.
Add your favorite dipping sauce or chutney (like my green cilantro chutney) and serve immediately.
They have to be served hot or warm and can be served along with tea or even drinks/cocktails.
I serve them a lot for our cocktail gatherings and everyone calls it Mini Cocktail Samosa’s then 😉
