Peda is an extremely popular and delicious Indian sweet that can be found at every celebration and festival.
This creamy and delightful treat is usually made with khoya (milk solids) or milk powder along with sugar, cardamom, and so on, but there’s a delicious twist you can try – Ricotta Cheese Peda!
Using ricotta cheese not only simplifies the process, making it easier to make but also gives the peda a rich and perfect granular texture for which the ‘Mathura Peda’ is popular in India
So this Diwali (Indian Festival of Lights), let me help you make these delicious ‘Easy Mathura Peda’(you may call) at home in no-time and surprise your loved ones 🙂
Easy Peda Recipe Ingredients
For the easy Ricotta Cheese Peda, we need the following ingredients:
Ricotta Cheese
Condensed Milk
Ghee – you can use unsalted butter too
Cardamom Powder
Pinch of Saffron Strands (optional) – dissolved in 2tbsp warm milk
Chopped Nuts for Garnishing – I’m using pistachio and edible dried rose petals (optional)
How to Make Easy Peda or Easy Mathura Peda Recipe:
Now, there are 2 ways to make these peda:
Microwave Peda Recipe:
We place the ricotta cheese with ghee and condensed milk in a large bowl and mix evenly.
Then we keep in the microwave and cook it for the interval of 2 minutes. Stir the mixture and microwave again for 2 minutes. Follow this process for 2 more minutes.
Then you’ll notice the cheese will become brown and granular. Mix cardamom powder and saffron (dissolved in milk) and stir everything together.
Microwave for 2-3 more minutes and then cool the mixture to touch.
Oil your hands and scoop 2 tbsp of this mixture into your palms and make them into round balls.
Press the ball gently to form a disc. Similarly, make all the peda’s.
Now place the peda on a platter and sprinkle chopped pistachio and rose petals on top (dab them slightly to set on peda).
Serve fresh.
Stovetop Peda Recipe:
Heat a pan and add ghee.
Add ricotta cheese and stir for 2 minutes.
Now add condensed milk and stir this mixture on lower-medium flames for 6-7 minutes or until the mixture turns golden brown and granular. (it will impart a sweet ghee flavor aroma).
Addcardamom powder and saffron (dissolved in milk) and stir everything together.
Turn off the flames and let this mixture slightly cool.
Once the peda is made, you can either serve them immediately or place them in an air-tight container and refrigerate them.
Also, you can add your choice of toppings to the peda like almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, raisins, etc.
I looove this original taste of peda (just like the Mathura ones, which is an extremely popular city in India, famous for its peda) but you can add flavors to it too saffron, mango, strawberry, chocolate, rose, coconut, etc.
So this Diwali, make this easy and quick peda’s and enjoy the festival with your loved ones.
