These thin, crispy, and colorful chips are my go-to nutritious snacks that can be made instantly …okay, about 15 minutes, and that’s quite instant as per me 🙂

Air-fryers have been one of my favorite electronic gadgets, and I’ve been using it from the very first time they came onto the market. I love how ergonomic and convenient they are to use as compared to traditional ovens, and definitely much less space is needed to store them.

So, I’ve tried tons of chips/crisps recipes in them, but this one is handsdown a WINNER every time they are made!!

These crispy air fryer beetroot chips are not only a healthy vegan snack, but also naturally gluten-free, oil-free, and kid-friendly.

Whether you’re craving something crunchy between meals or looking for a nutritious lunchbox idea, these homemade beet chips in air fryer are a great choice.

And you can make a huge batch to satisfy those hunger or salty cravings without any guilt.

Air-Fryer Beetroot Chips Ingredients:

These colorful beet crisps require only 4 ingredients and are super easy to find in any store or at home:

Beetroot / Beets / Chukandar

  • Choose firm or fresh beets (no frozen or over-ripe beets) for crispy chips.
  • I’ve taken 2 different colors of beets, but you can use any colors or shapes. Just remember to clean them, peel, and slice them evenly.

Oil:

  • You can use any oil of choice, including olive, sunflower, coconut, etc

Vinegar:

  • This is extremely important as it results in crispy chips. Always use white vinegar as malt ones don’t work so well with the sweetness in beets.
  • You can use ‘rice wine vinegar’ If need be.

Seasoning: Salt and Red Chilies:

  • I’m using a basic seasoning of salt and red chilies.
  • You can use it as per your choice, and the possibilities are endless.

Pro Tip for Healthy Crispy Air Fryer Beetroot Chips:

  • The beetroots (chukandar) should be cold or kept in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours.
  • This results in even slicing and crispier chips later.
  • Room-temperature beetroots are slightly lumpy or soft to slice.
  • If using different colors of beets, start slicing from light to dark color (this prevents the transfer of colors on beets)
  • You need a peeler and slicer for this particular recipe (as we are using really thin slices, just like store-bought ones). It makes life so much easier and quicker using them.

I used a handheld mechanical slicer for this thin and even slicing, but you can use a food processor with a slicer blade or a knife to thinly slice.

How to Make Beetroot Chips in an Air Fryer

Let’s get started with our chips recipe

Step 1: Clean & Slice the Beetroot:

Wear gloves if you do not want your hands colored pink while using beets.

We start by trimming any stems and leaves attached to the beetroot.

Then we clean them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt.

Then pat them dry and keep them in the refrigerator for some time.

Remove the beets from the refrigerator and peel them.

Now, using a slicer/knife or food processor, thinly slice them. (As mentioned, above, if using different colored beetroots/beets/chukandar, start with lighter colors and move to dark to prevent having them all colored).

Keep the slices submerged in chilled water till you are ready to make the recipe (this retains crispiness).

Step 2: Seasoning the Slices:

Now, take an air-fryer safe dish and add the lighter color beet slices first.

Add oil, vinegar, and seasoning.

Mix evenly and keep aside.

Step 3: Air Frying the Beetroot Chips:

Preheat the air-fryer at 220°F (104 °C) for 3 minutes.

Remove the air-fryer basket and place the seasoned chips in it (Donot overcrowd the basket by layering the slices on top of each other, as this will result in uneven crispiness).

Air-Fry for 10 minutes (you can open and stir the slices in between using a wooden spatula).

Remove the chips from the basket and place them in a serving bowl.

Similarly, make all the chips from leftover seasoned slices.

You can serve these chips immediately as they are really thin and will turn soggy if left out for a long time.

Serving and Storage Tips for Crunchy Beet Chips:

Once the chips are made, they can be served right away. Since these chips are really thin, storing them for a longer time is not advisable.

You can store them for a day or two in an air-tight container.

I like to sprinkle some more seasoning on top of these chips when serving.

Variations in Flavors:

Since beets are sweeter and easy to flavor, you can use different kind of seasonings like :

Cajun

Mediterranean

Garlicky

Herbed

Spicy

Cheesy

Crunchy & Healthy Beetroot Chips:

These crispy air fryer beetroot chips are not only a healthy vegan snack, but also naturally gluten-free, oil-free, and kid-friendly.

Whether you’re craving something crunchy between meals or looking for a nutritious lunchbox idea, these homemade beet chips in air fryer are a great choice.

You can season them with just salt and pepper or try exciting flavors like garlic powder, chili flakes, or even nutritional yeast for a cheesy twist!

Beets are rich in fiber, folate, and antioxidants. Air frying reduces oil usage while still achieving a crispy, chip-like texture—perfect for healthy snacking.

Beets are also rich in fiber.

So whether you are craving a quick snack or guilt-free snacks, or something that you can wow your loved ones, these are a perfect option.

Air Fryer Beetroot Beet Chips

Unlike deep-fried chips, these are made using minimal oil and retain the vibrant color and earthy sweetness of beets.

They’re the perfect alternative to processed snacks and can be stored in an airtight jar for up to a week without losing their crisp.
