Oats Stuffed Flatbread – Oats Parathe: simple, easy, and soft flatbreads that are a great way of welcoming the slight nip in the air or just a feel good yet healthy recipe for the week.
I’ve always loved making oats with fruits/nuts as breakfast But for Others…..somehow couldn’t persuade myself to eat it with milk….maybe its the texture or something…..
But I always recommended/Liked it knowing the nutritional value.
So have been thinking of somehow make it into something that I can not just simply get over with, but relish eating.
Finally – thought of using them as a simple stuffing to make these Oats Stuffed Flatbread – Oats Parathe and it turned out to be AWESOME!
Infact, Oats Stuffed Flatbread can be a great & healthy option to feed little ones or pack as a snack/meal on trekking/trails or any outings. Before I can go on n on, here’s the recipe – Enjoy !
Make Dough in the beginning and keep it aside – This gives it enough time to rise.
You can roll out all the stuffed flat-bread first and then start the cooking process for them
If carrying them for outings/kid’s lunch – Pack in butter-paper or foil to retain moisture
Serves: 2 People
Serving Suggestion: Serve Hot or Cold along with plain yogurt or pickle.
Tools:
Food Processor with dough attachment – For making the flatbread dough
Rolling Pin – To make flat-bread
Large Non-Stick Pan – Cooking Flat-Bread/Parathe
Large Non-Stick Pot – For cooking Oats
For Oats Stuffing:
2 Cups Plain Instant Oats
4-5Tbsp Water
1 Medium Onion – Chopped – You can use any kind of onion from red to white
1 Small Green Chilli – Thinly Chopped – You can skip this step as per need/choice
1/2 Tsp Grated Ginger
1 Large Boiled Potato – Grated – I’m using it to bind cooked oats as stuffing
5 Tbsp Olive Oil – You may use any flavorless oil of choice
Spices:
1 Tsp Coriander Powder (Dhania Powder)
1/2 Tsp Cumin Powder (Jeera Powder)
1 Tsp Dry Mango Powder (Amchur Powder) – (If you don’t have dry mango powder, you may use lemon juice)
1 Tsp Indian All Spice Powder (Garam Masala)
1 Tsp Red Chili Powder – Optional
2 Tsp Salt (As per your taste)
For FlatBread/Paratha Dough:
1.5 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
1/2 Cup Warm Water
Extra:
1/2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour – Needed to Dust the dough while making flat-bread
