Bourbon Saffron Tea Affogato (Dragonstone Affogato)

Bourbon-Saffron Tea Affogato (Dragonstone Affogato): takes you from this sweet warm flavor from saffron-bourbon to a cooling calm sensation with a hint of vanilla from the ice-cream. Bourbon Saffron Tea Affogato

I’m so ready with my Bourbon Saffron Tea Affogato for the new Game of Thrones Season 7 to start this Sunday.

This ‘Game of Throne’ inspired dessert is a delicious symphony of different flavor sensation in every bite.

It’s not what conquering the 7 kingdoms would feel like but it’s definitely close.

Now, I wasn’t a GOT fan (game of thrones as it’s called), but after a recap of the first season with my girlfriends.

I was totally hooked…hooked to an extent that we could literally spend hours discussing the tactics of getting the seven kingdoms (as if anyone of us is going to conquer it).

And with this particular series, it’s either you are a die-hard fan or none at all – there is absolutely no in-between.

If you’ve watched all the seasons, you know by now that the theme in most of them is Dark, dark characters, costumes, sets to absolutely dark-gory fights.

The revenge is meaner than ever and love…oh the poor characters in love are in turmoil.

Bourbon Saffron Tea Affogato

There are many shades of characters to choose from, be it sweet, evil, absolutely crude to devastatingly in love.

And yes, there’s, of course, dragons and their mother ‘Daenerys Targaryen’ who’s the center of everyone’s eyes and the show is absolutely commanded by her.

This season is also filled with dragons, battles, glory, ghosts and a place called ‘Dragonstone’ where it all began and leads to finally.

Dragonstone is a castle on an isolated volcanic island (lots of history though if you’ve watched all the seasons) and it is absolutely barren except for fishes in the sea.

So, to watch this season with my friends, I thought of creating this Dragonstone Affogato – Spiked with Bourbon Saffron Tea Affogato recipe.

Which actually resembles the dark colors of the island and since in all that excitement of the episode, we needed something potent to calm our girly nerves….so comes the bourbon and saffron 🙂

How to Make Bourbon Saffron Tea Affogato

This recipe comes together in mere a 15 minutes and the only cooking you need to do is make the tea – that it.

Once, the tea is made, all you have to do is scoop some ice-cream in the serving bowl, pour some cold bourbon-saffron tea and top with chocolate syrup.

That is, seriously simple but absolutely addicting!! It’s a perfect dessert for any of your party or a simple last minute add-on to any planned meal.

The color of the bourbon-saffron tea is absolutely gorgeous and a delicious mix of flavor n fragrance.

The sweet-smokey flavor from the bourbon is the perfect combination of the fragrant saffron.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of the Game of Thorns but really that’s not unusal — I watch what Hubby watches and we don’t get into series type shows. Why? Because we always miss the important episodes. But that dessert would totally have me hooked – I wouldn’t miss out on the taste. It sounds amazing!! Will have to talk Hubby into watching and then having a special treat along with it. 😉
