Whole Wheat Margherita Pizza

 

Whole Wheat Margherita Pizza: easy recipe uses a homemade whole wheat pizza base from scratch. Topped with cheese and tomato sauce.

Whole Wheat Pizza

1 Large Pot/Bowl
1 Pizza Tray OR Flat Baking Tray (lined with foil)
Rolling Pin
2 Tsp Oil – For greasing the Pot/Bowl
Pizza Slicer
Wet Cloth – For covering dough
 

Whole Wheat Margherita Pizza Ingredients:

 

For Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Base:

1.5 cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
1 Packet of Dry Active Yeast (Approx 1½  Tsp in each bag)
1 Tsp Honey
1¼  Cup Warm Water
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
 
 
 
 
 

For Margherita Pizza Topping:

2 Tsp Olive Oil
½ Tsp Garlic Powder
½ Cup Fresh Mozzarella
Cheese
2 Tbsp Parmesan Cheese
2 Tbsp Tomato Ketchup
2 Large Tomato – Cut into rings
5-6 Fresh Basil Leaves
1 Tsp Salt
 

Method:

 
Prep Work: Preheat Oven at 425f (232C)
 
    1. Mix whole wheat flour with all-purpose flour and keep aside.
    2. In a large pot, combine yeast, honey, 4 tsp warm water and set aside for 10 min. (This step is very important as yeast forms quickly in warm sweet water)
    3. Add salt, oil, the rest of the warm water, 1 cup of flour, and mix lightly. (Make sure to knead lightly as putting too much pressure will flatten/harden the pizza base when baked)
    4. Add the rest of the flour and make it into loose dough.
    5. Grease a pot, put the dough, cover with wet cloth & keep for 1 hr.
    6. Dough double in size, turn on board, cut in 4 balls, put wet cloth, and keep in a warm place for 40 min.
    7. The dough balls will rise further,  roll each of them into a round pizza base.
    8. Now apply olive oil on each pizza base followed by ketchup sauce.
    9. Place Tomato rings on each pizza base, and sprinkle cheese, basil leaves, garlic powder, and salt.
    10. Place 2 pizza on each tray (Lined with aluminum foil).
  1. Put the tray in the bottom of the oven bake at 450degree for 5 min and then shift to the middle rack for 5-6 min.
  2. Take out the pizza, run a pizza slicer to cut it into desired slices and Serve Hot.
